MULTIPLE
USES
The Stone Mill has the potential
to become an extraordinary venue for any number of potential uses.
A sample of some possibilities follows. One might also combine uses,
for example, a residence on the upper floor and a workshop or home
business on the lower level.

Residence. With windows
and decks overlooking the waterfall-rapids of the Ausable River
and 8000 square feet of open space on two levels, the Stone Mill
lends itself to becoming a creative, architecturally-designed residence,
bordered by a park, a short walking distance from village amenities.
The upper level of 4000 feet, with its hardwood floor, could be
an ample-sized residence, with huge area below for storage, workshop
or a home business,
Workshops, Studio. The large open
areas lend themselves to arts and crafts workshops and studios—for
one or two owners or businesses or for community workshop-studio
space.
Stores, Shops, Galleries. The Stone
Mill could become a magnet for shoppers, with the potential for
anything from one large store or dozens of stalls and cubicles for
multiple vendors.
Event Space. Overlooking the river,
this is a perfect spot for weddings, receptions, parties, meetings,
and other gatherings. The upper level has ample room for one or
more large rooms for the events and dining; while the lower level
has more than enough space for kitchen, work space and storage.
There are one or two places where it would not be difficult to create
a porch or deck looking over the river and falls.
Restaurant, Brew Pub.
The building’s character and setting lend themselves for convivial
drinking and dining, again, with enough additional space for private
dining and meeting rooms. A brew pub could house public spaces on
the upper level and brewing and work space below.
Offices. With moveable or permanent
partitions, both levels could house a multitude of offices, cubbies,
meeting rooms, and work and storage spaces.
Factory or Light Industry. Ironically,
some of the original uses of the Stone Mill would still be appropriate
today.
